Australia's solar panel manufacturer, Tindo Solar has supplied 70 Australian-made 430 W Walara solar panels to the East Micronesia Cable project, powering landing stations in Nauru and Tarawa, Kiribati. The 2,250 km undersea cable linked Kiribati, Nauru, Kosrae, and Pohnpei, and was funded by Australia, the United States, and Japan for completion by December 2025. The project aimed to provide high-speed data access to about 100,000 people in the South Pacific. Procurement partner P.R.A. Electrical evaluated the sites as requiring durable and cyclone-rated solar panels suitable for humid coastal conditions. P.R.A. also supplied Tindo panels to a Japanese and Australian government-funded Humanitarian Warehouse in Tarawa.
