Japan based Shizen Energy Inc. has announced that SM 01 Sdn. Bhd. achieved financial close for a 29.99 MW solar power project in Gurun, Kedah. The project was developed under Malaysia’s Corporate Green Power Programme. SM 01 Sdn. Bhd. signed a power purchase agreement with Google in December 2025. The agreement followed earlier cooperation between Shizen Energy and Google in Japan. The project marked Shizen Energy Group’s first utility-scale solar development in the Malaysian market. The project was structured to supply energy attributes supporting Google’s regional electricity consumption. The solar plant was developed, constructed, and owned by SM 01 Sdn. Bhd. The project company was a consortium comprising Shizen Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Solarvest Asset Management Sdn. Bhd., and HSS Engineering Sdn. Bhd. Shizen Malaysia acted as the lead developer. UOB Malaysia served as the mandated lead arranger and sole lender. Commercial operation was scheduled for 2027.
