China-based Shanghai Electric have signed the second phase of the 342 MW Parau photovoltaic project in Romania with Econergy Renewable Energy on October 1, 2025. The project aimed to supply electricity to residential and commercial users, strengthening Shanghai Electric’s presence in Central and Eastern Europe. It followed the completion of the 91.4 MW Parau Phase I, which began operations in November 2024, supplying power to about 70,000 households and cutting 6,800 tons of CO₂ annually. Shanghai Electric also completed the 56 MW Schultu project in June 2025 and is constructing the 60 MW Ovidi project. With a total of around 550 MW in Romania, the company has contributed to the country’s clean energy growth and held talks with Romanian and Austrian energy officials to explore further cooperation.
