Malaysia-based SD Guthrie Berhad and Gamuda Energy SdnBhd have signed an agreement to jointly develop, own, and operate solar assets with a total target capacity of 1.2 GW across Malaysia. The partnership has combined Guthrie’s extensive nationwide land bank with Gamuda’s technical expertise and renewable project portfolio exceeding 3 GW across the Asia Pacific. Guthrie’s initial 15 MW Corporate Green Power Programme solar plant in Kedah was scheduled to begin operations in late 2025, marking its entry into the renewable sector. Under the first phase, the companies were assessing unproductive or under-utilised land for solar development nationwide. The collaboration was aimed at supplying renewable power to industrial and data centre users under national frameworks such as the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme.
