Samsung C&T Engineering & Construction (E&C) Group was awarded the EPC contract by QatarEnergy for the 2 GW Dukhan Solar Power Project, Qatar’s largest solar facility. It marked the biggest capacity project undertaken by a Korean construction company. The project, valued at KRW 1.46 trillion (~$1.04 trillion), was planned on a 27 site with 2.74 million panels to supply electricity to about 750,000 households by 2030. Located 80 kilometers west of Doha, the project included solar tracking systems and advanced inverters to withstand desert conditions. It followed international bidding in 2025 after the project was announced in 2023. Samsung C&T E&C had earlier built solar facilities in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed totaling 875 MW, and with the Dukhan plant, it was set to deliver nearly 80% of Qatar’s solar generation capacity.
