Ryohin Keikaku and JERA have established MUJI Energy LLC on September 1, 2025, to develop renewable power projects, mainly solar facilities. The new entity is planning 13 MW of solar capacity within a year, equivalent to 20% of RyohinKeikaku’s annual electricity demand, and is expected to cut CO2 emissions by about 8,000 tons annually. All generated environmental value is to be transferred to RyohinKeikaku through JERA subsidiary JERA Cross via a virtual PPA for use at MUJI stores. RyohinKeikaku has set a goal of halving Group emissions by 2030 compared to FY2021. JERA, under its Zero CO2 Emissions 2050 initiative, has targeted net-zero emissions by 2025 from domestic and international operations through renewable energy and zero-emissions thermal.
