Essen-headquartered RWE was awarded three new Agri PV projects totaling 30.2 MW AC under Italy’s PNRR auction. This addition followed two earlier awarded projects that were already under construction. The new sites — Acquafredda 2 in Campania, Enna Piscopo in Sicily and Cave in Calabria — were set to use elevated mounting structures with either high tracker or fixed tilt designs. Around 47,000 modules were planned for installation within the coming weeks, with operations expected in 2026. The project design has supported grazing or crop production beneath the panels which offered protection from hail, frost, drought and heavy rain. RWE said monitoring of system performance, weather conditions and agricultural yield was planned. The company already operated wind and Agri PV assets in Italy, with additional wind farms under construction.
