Qcells, a US-based solar manufacturer, announced a partnership between its new recycling division, EcoRecycle, and Greentech Renewables, a national solar equipment distributor. The collaboration launched at Greentech’s Tampa and Palmetto, Florida locations, creating community collection hubs for decommissioned or damaged solar panels. The initiative aimed to divert panels from landfills and establish a model for future recycling sites across Florida and the Southeast. EcoRecycle planned to recycle about 500,000 panels annually at its Georgia facility using separation technology to recover materials like glass, aluminum, copper, and silver for reuse in Qcells’ US manufacturing. The effort supported local waste management, domestic supply chains, and promoted circular practices within the solar industry.
