Qair, an independent renewable energy company, has launched construction of the 5.8 MW Seysun Lagoon Floating PV plant in Providence Lagoon on Mahé Island, Seychelles. The ceremony was attended by government ministers, officials from the Public Utilities Corporation, and the French ambassador. The project followed financial close and entered its final development stage with a long-term Power Purchase Agreement to supply electricity to the Public Utilities Corporation. It was recognized as part of Seychelles’ national renewable energy roadmap, addressing limited land availability by using lagoon surface area. Commissioning was planned for 2026 to support the national target of 15% renewable electricity by 2030. Qair had operated 65 MW in Africa and developed a pipeline of more than 2 GW across solar, wind, and hybrid technologies.
