Premier Energies, based in Hyderabad, have announced that it had secured solar contracts worth $19.95 million (around INR 177 crore) in the Republic of Benin, West Africa. The projects, part of a national initiative led by the Government of Benin, were implemented in collaboration with the General Directorate of Energy Planning and Rural Electrification under the Ministry of Energy, Water and Mines. The contracts included setting up 750 rooftop solar systems at facilities like police stations, schools, health centres and border posts, along with installing over 4,400 solar streetlights and 650 solar water heaters. The project was financed through a Line of Credit from the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) and the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID).
