PPC Group has added a 130 MW photovoltaic plant in Călugăreni, 40 km south of Bucharest. The project expanded the company’s Romanian RES portfolio. The project was connected to the grid and used 227,240 bifacial panels. It was estimated to generate more than 193 GWh per year, covering the needs of about 48,500 households, and to avoid around 116,000 tons of CO₂ annually. The plant formed part of PPC Group’s agreement with Metlen Energy & Metals, which included 460 MW of photovoltaic parks scheduled for completion by year-end. With the new addition, PPC Group’s installed capacity surpassed 6.5 GW, including 1.5 GW in Romania. The company planned to expand RES capacity in Greece and Southeast Europe to 11.8 GW by 2027, with more than 60% of the future additions under construction or ready for construction.
