UK-based Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG) has invested $12 million via InfraCo into Greenpower SL, a rooftop solar platform in Sri Lanka with 80 MW of operational capacity. Greenpower SL had installed solar systems on over 1,300 public buildings, including schools and hospitals. The investment aimed to scale the platform to 190 MW and support the integration of energy storage technologies. PIDG also provided an $80,000 Technical Assistance grant to fund a feasibility study focused on nature-based enhancements for the solar installations. The planned expansion was expected to generate over 180 jobs and reduce more than 100,000 tons of CO2e annually. Alongside PIDG, Norfund and Volta Groupe contributed equity, collectively aiming to mobilise up to $57 million in private capital.
