Asia-Pacific funds management firm Pacific Channel has launched Fund V in New Zealand to support Kākāriki’s renewable energy portfolio. Kākāriki was formed as a joint venture by Energy Estate, Elemental Group, Regener8 Power, and Tāmata Hauhā. Its initial portfolio included seven advanced projects with 4 GW of wind and solar generation and 2.3 GW of storage. Another 18 projects were planned, taking total capacity beyond 10 GW across both islands. These projects were placed near industrial centres and major energy users, with land access, planning, grid connections, and Māori partnerships already in progress. Fund V was established to provide seed capital, making the first set of projects investment ready and enabling expansion. Pacific Channel positioned the fund as a pathway to accelerate clean energy infrastructure across New Zealand.
