OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE), the clean energy arm of OQ, is planning over 10 GW of solar and renewable capacity by 2035. Construction has begun on three renewable energy projects: Riyah 1, Riyah 2, and North Oman Solar. The combined 300 MW output is contracted to Petroleum Development Oman (PDO). An additional 300 MW solar plant is set to supply the Marsa LNG facility in Sohar. OQAE has secured a 25% stake in all upcoming renewable projects under Nama PWP, starting with the 500 MW Ibri III Solar PV project. Wind projects such as Dhofar Wind 2 are also in progress. Hydrogen ventures—Hyport, Green Energy Oman, and Salalah H2—are expected to deliver 400 kilotonnes annually post-2030. OQAE's customers include PDO, Oxy, BP, Shell, Vale and Sohar Aluminium. PDO, the country's largest oil and gas producer, remains a central offtaker for these developments.
