UK-based OnPath Energy has completed a new site entrance for the Common Farm Solar Park near Dinnington, South Yorkshire. The project, with a capacity of 49.9 MW and a 50 MW battery storage facility, was set to link into the Thurcroft sub-station about three kilometres north. Cheetham Hill Construction built the entrance under AECOM’s supervision. The main construction was planned to begin in autumn 2025 and end in mid-2027, providing jobs for local subcontractors and suppliers. The 116-hectare site already had wildflower meadows planted, with new hedges and oak trees added for screening. Additional habitat measures for skylarks and lapwings were planned after construction. A community benefit fund of about GBP 50,000 annually, totaling around GBP 2 million over the project’s lifetime, was under consultation. Common Farm was one of two Yorkshire solar projects by OnPath, alongside Barnsdale Solar Energy Park, with four wind farms already operating in the county.
