Octopus and Skygreen to build 140 MW solar in South Korea

Skygreen Energy partnered with Octopus Energy to develop 140 MW of solar in South Korea via the Sky fund, supporting the nation’s renewable energy goals.

A global clean energy tech, Octopus Energy’s generation arm expanded its renewables push in Asia with a solar investment in South Korea. It partnered with local developer Skygreen Energy to build up to 20 solar farms over two years, targeting 140 MW of capacity. The projects aimed to supply power to around 45,000 homes annually. Skygreen planned to scale up to 500 MW and explore technologies like storage and onshore wind. The initial focus was on mid-western South Korea, supplying clean power to industries. South Korea plans to increase renewables from 10% to 33% by 2038, creating growth opportunities for solar; the deal was made via Octopus' Sky fund. Additionally, Octopus Australia has begun construction of the 80 MW Fulham Solar and Battery project.
