A major fire was reported at 9:35 pm on Monday at a godown storing materials for NTPC’s 70 MW solar project in Dahod, Gujarat. NTPC, which is a state-owned power utility, has confirmed the fire was first noticed at 9:15 pm and emergency services were immediately alerted. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagdish Bhandari, the blaze was severe, and the entire godown was destroyed. Fire tenders were dispatched from Dahod, Godhra, Jhalod, and Chhota Udepur, but strong winds were making firefighting difficult. NTPC has stated that seven to eight workers and four security guards were rescued, and no casualties were reported. Firefighting operations were ongoing through the night and were nearly complete by Tuesday morning. The cause of the fire is yet to be determined and has resulted in the total loss of stored materials.
