National Renewable Solutions (NRS), a US-based renewable energy developer, has commenced operations of the Shallow Basket Energy project in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico. The facility consists of 140 MW (AC) solar capacity and a 50 MW battery storage system. It is located on land owned by the Jicarilla Apache Nation, which benefits through a wholesale supply agreement with Guzman Energy. Kit Carson Electric Cooperative is also receiving power from the project. The plant produces electricity for about 38,000 homes annually. It enhances grid reliability with Tesla Megapack 2XL units manufactured in California. Albuquerque-based Gridworks was responsible for construction. Financing was refinanced in November 2024 with MUFG Bank, NORD/LB, Siemens Financial Services, and Zions Bancorporation to support NRS’s growth.
