Japan based Niigata Taiyo Yuden, a subsidiary of Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd., has partnered with Tohoku Electric Power to start supplying renewable electricity from February 1, 2026, using an off-site corporate PPA. The electricity comes from three high-voltage solar power plants in the Tohoku region developed by Leapton Energy, with a total capacity of 3.11 MW and will be supplied for about 20 years. This is Niigata Taiyo Yuden’s first use of an off-site corporate PPA. The project supports the Taiyo Yuden Group’s ongoing efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through energy saving and renewable electricity use, while Tohoku Electric Power supplies the power through the existing grid network.
