mPower Technology, a US-based solar technology company headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, has launched the world’s first automated high-volume solar module production line for space applications at Universal Instruments Corporation’s facility in Conklin, New York. According to mPower Technology, the facility is already producing DragonSCALES™ solar modules for Airbus under an existing contract supporting the MDA AURORA™ spacecraft supply chain. The new line has an annual capacity of 1 MW, which is expected to reach 2 MW by mid-2026. As per mPower’s CEO Kevin Hell, this milestone marks the shift from manual fabrication to industrial-scale production for space missions. The partnership with Universal Instruments, a global automation specialist, ensures consistent, scalable, and cost-efficient production to meet the growing energy needs of orbital and lunar projects.
