Momentum Group Limited has installed solar projects at its Centurion and Parc du Cap offices. The systems were designed to generate 7.5 GWh of electricity annually. Power was supplied through grid-tied rooftop and carport installations linked to building systems. The generation was equal to powering about 28,500 streetlights for one year. It also matched the use of 5,300 households for one month or 120 schools yearly. The projects were estimated to save ZAR 13 million in annual electricity costs. Carbon dioxide emissions of 8,900 tons were expected to be avoided each year. This reduction was equal to 23,400 flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town. It also matched 3,200 return flights to London or 356,000 trees absorbing carbon. The investment was expected to reach break-even quickly, ensuring financial and operational stability.
