Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) was currently studying an initiative to establish four solar PV power plants with a combined capacity of 2 GW, reported Al Rai. The project aimed for completion by summer 2026 to address the country’s electricity shortage that began last year. Solar projects needed less time to complete compared to fossil fuel plants, which usually took three to four years plus one year for tendering and contracts. Kuwait targeted a 15 percent renewable share in its energy mix by 2030.
