METLEN Energy to build 313 MW solar and BESS projects in UK

Greece-based METLEN Energy & Metals, global industrial and energy company, has signed six new EPC contracts in the UK for five solar parks and one battery energy storage system, totaling 313.4 MW. The projects include sites in Durham, Northallerton, Shropshire, and Scotland, for clients like Lightsource bp, AMPYR Solar Europe, and Aukera Energy. Construction phases are scheduled throughout 2025, with all projects expected to be completed by late 2026. The combined contract value is around £110 million (~$ 148.48 million). METLEN also delivered three projects: two in Norfolk for AMPYR Solar Europe and one near Manchester for Pulse Clean Energy. Overall, METLEN’s UK portfolio includes 85 renewable energy projects, split between 58 solar projects (1.54 GW) and 27 BESS projects (1.18 GWh), covering about one-third of the UK’s energy storage capacity.
