Newzealand-headquartered Lightyears Solar is preparing a 5 MW solar farm in Canterbury. The project is located on an existing lifestyle farm. Expansion is also planned for the West Coast as the next phase. The company has already developed projects in Auckland, Wairarapa, and Ashburton. Together these sites provide 14 MW of solar capacity. The first project was commissioned in Auckland in late 2023. The most recent was completed in Ashburton in March 2025. All farms were connected to local distribution networks. They have supplied electricity to nearby districts since becoming operational. The sequence of projects shows steady regional growth. Lightyears Solar has expanded operations across several districts. New developments are moving forward while existing farms continue supplying local communities.
