Lenzing, the Austrian fibre technology company, has expanded its photovoltaic capacity at the Lenzing site with VERBUND by commissioning a 1.3 MW plant, raising the total to 8.3 MW. The company has also operated three hydropower plants with 2.3 MW output. It secured contracts for 13 MW of wind power from WLK Energy. It is also partnered with Enery and Energie Steiermark for a 5.5 MW photovoltaic plant in Deutschlandsberg. Lenzing also focused on a diversified energy mix of biomass, solar, wind and hydropower to improve independence. Its cooperation with VERBUND was viewed as support for renewable expansion.  These targets were reviewed and confirmed by the Science Based Targets Initiative, reinforcing its net-zero commitment.
