LEAG started construction of one of the largest solar projects in Germany on a recultivated opencast mining site near Jänschwalde. In the first phase, about 133 solar units were installed. The project was coupled with the Forst-Briesnig II wind farm and planned future integration with storage. PV modules were placed in east-west orientation to balance generation throughout the day. The system connected directly to the Heinersbrück grid, reducing expansion and redispatch needs. Wildlife corridors and mowing by local farmers enabled dual land use and biodiversity. A second phase was already under preparation.
