Department of Energy (DOE), the government’s central authority for energy of Philippines, has announced the start of construction on the 62 MW Ajuy-1 Solar Power Project in Iloilo. The PHP 2.37 billion solar facility is part of DOE’s Green Energy Auction Program 2. It is eligible for a green energy tariff of PHP 4.35 per KWh. It was developed by Jin Navitas Solaris. The ground-mounted installation spans 47.86 hectares in Tipacla, Ajuy. It is the first solar project of its kind in the province. It will connect to the Panay Island grid through the Sara–Panit 69 kV transmission line. The project has already completed the required System Impact Study. The plant is expected to enhance grid stability in northern Iloilo. It also supports national renewable energy targets. The goal is to have a 35% share in the total energy mix by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040.
