Newzealand-based Lightyears has secured refinancing from Australian renewables lender Infradebt to expand its New Zealand solar portfolio to 27 MW across five farms. Three farms were operational, and two were under construction. The funding replaced previous support from NZGIF, which had provided long-term debt facilities before being wound down. Lightyears completed construction of a fourth community-scale solar farm and had two more under construction, with additional projects scheduled for 2026. The company focused on community-scale, dual-use solar projects that enabled ongoing agricultural use beneath panels and connected directly to local distribution networks. Infradebt stated that the partnership marked its first transaction in New Zealand and aimed to accelerate Lightyears’ project pipeline amid the nation’s shifting energy landscape.
