Infinity Power, Africa's renewable energy provider, has signed concession agreements with Côte d'Ivoire’s government. The agreements were part of the World Bank’s Scaling Solar initiative. Infinity Power secured two solar PV projects, totaling 80MW (AC), in Touba and Laboa. The projects include 17km of transmission lines for grid integration. These are the companys first projects in Côte d'Ivoire. They are expected to supply electricity to over 400,000 people. Côte d'Ivoires energy and finance ministries granted the projects through a competitive tender. CI Energies and the Directorate General for Energy oversaw the process. IFC served as advisor and supported project execution. The projects aim to avoid 60,000 tons of CO₂ annually. The signing was attended by officials from Infinity Power, the government, IFC, and the World Bank.Earlier this year, Infinity Power partnered with Masdar to develop renewable energy projects in Sierra Leone, expanding its West African presence.
