IGS Energy, headquartered in Ohio, has announced an agreement to acquire Texas-based Just Energy. According to IGS Energy, the acquisition will create one of North America's largest energy retailers with 7.5 million residential customer equivalents. Just Energy, which operates Hudson Energy, Amigo Energy, and Tara Energy, will continue functioning independently under its existing brands. IGS Energy said the combined company will employ 2,250 people across the US and Canada. The acquisition is anticipated to strengthen IGS Energy’s position in deregulated markets across US, including ERCOT and PJM. Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP and Wells Fargo acted as Legal and financial advisors to IGS Energy. Just Energy was advised by Latham & Watkins LLP and PJT Partners. Recently, IGS Solar partnered with HASI to fund 71 MW of residential solar across 11 US states.
