Iberdrola Deutschland, a German subsidiary of Iberdrola Group, has completed its first solar park in Boldekow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 180 kilometers north of Berlin. The 80,000-panel installation spans over 65 football fields and supplies 53 GWh annually. Power is delivered to around 3,000 Vodafone mobile towers under a long-term agreement. The system is expected to reduce 20,000 tons of CO₂ each year for 30 years. This solar park adds to Iberdrola’s existing wind farms in the German Baltic Sea. It supports Vodafone’s renewable energy source strategy and long-term electricity planning. Local firms were involved in the construction phase. The municipality is set to receive ongoing property tax revenue. The park uses both direct sunlight and reflected radiation for energy generation.Prior to this, Iberdrola advanced solar deployment at the Broadsound site in Australia, a move now mirrored by its first solar project powering Vodafone towers in Germany.
