Hive Hydrogen South Africa has secured all permits for the 1.43 GW Crossroads Green Energy Solar PV Cluster in Northern Cape. The project is set to begin construction in Q4 2026 and will supply 40% of the power for the Coega Green Ammonia facility in Nelson Mandela Bay. Environmental approvals were granted in May 2024 for 1.23 GW, later expanded by 200 MW. The ZAR 15 billion (~$ 832.90 million) solar development is co-developed with Akuo Energy, Africoast Investments, and Golden Sunshine Trading. Located near Philipstown, Petrusville, and Vanderkloof, the sites use only 10% of agricultural land. The Coega ammonia project, valued at ZAR 105 billion (~$5.83 billion), is scheduled for commercial operation in Q4 2029 and includes a 20 GW grid unlocking plan.
