A vertically integrated German solar energy company, hep solar and the Protestant Church of Kurhessen-Waldeck (PCKW) have announced a cooperation to develop solar projects on church-owned land in Baden-Württemberg. The PCKW has about 10,000 undeveloped plots made available for site analysis. hep solar has reviewed initial plots by assessing soil, location type and size. Suitable sites were planned for development, including construction, financing, commissioning, and power marketing. Final approval was assigned to local municipalities, which decide on land leasing or independent operation. Municipalities could lease to hep solar or operate projects jointly with landowners. hep solar has supported similar work since 2023 with the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau. That cooperation was already producing early solar projects. The new partnership extended church participation in regional energy transition.
