Hawaiian Electric Industries, a Honolulu-based electric utility holding company, has completed the sale of all solar and battery storage assets under Pacific Current. The assets include operational solar and storage facilities located on Kauai, Oahu, and Maui, which were transferred to Fortistar and Epic Star Energy. Hawaiian Electric Industries has stated that the financial impact of this transaction is not expected to be material. The sale follows the earlier divestment of the Hamakua Energy facility in March 2025 under the same strategic exit plan. Epic Star Energy, a US-based renewable energy developer, has partnered with Fortistar, a US-based sustainability-focused investor, for this acquisition. One remaining asset under Pacific Current, a biomass plant located on Kauai, is currently under strategic review by Hawaiian Electric Industries regarding its future ownership and operation.
