Netherland-based Gutami Holding BV, a global developer and investor, and its local partner have signed a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the Government of Burkina Faso and a PPA with SONABEL for a 150 MW solar PV and 50 MW BESS project. The battery system is designed for grid services like frequency regulation, load shifting, and solar smoothing. The €100 million project has secured all required approvals including ESIA, permits, licenses, and land rights. Commercial operations are scheduled for Q4 2027. The project is expected to reduce thermal power reliance and improve grid stability. Over 300 jobs will be created during construction and operation. It has full sovereign support and has entered the lender mandate phase to attract financing partners. The fixed-tariff PPA ensures predictable revenue, making the project financially viable for banks and impact investors.
