SolarPower Europe, a Brussels-based solar industry association, and Greenpeace Ukraine, a Kyiv-based environmental NGO, have recently co-hosted a side event at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin. The session, which was held with Greenpeace Italy and titled “Fostering solar investments in Ukraine,” was focused on mobilizing financing for solar energy during post-war reconstruction. According to SolarPower Europe, investment conditions must be created immediately and should not be delayed until the war is concluded. A key mechanism discussed was the EU’s Ukraine Facility, which has allocated up to €50 billion (~ $58.5 billion) between 2024 and 2027. ERG Spa has stated that energy storage is essential for building a stable and resilient power system. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has noted that risk-sharing tools are necessary to attract private capital into solar investments. Ukrainian MP Inna Sovsun has emphasized the need for stronger de-risking measures. The event has aligned with Greenpeace’s “Green Reconstruction of Ukraine” initiative and its March 2025 partnership with SolarPower Europe.
