Gamuda & Downie Family sign Tasmania 600 MW energy project deal

A 600 MW wind, solar, and battery project in Central Tasmania was announced under an agreement between Gamuda Holdings, Downie Family, and Alternate Path.

Gamuda Holdings Pty Ltd, Australian subsidiary of Gamuda Berhad, has signed an agreement with Tasmanian landowners for renewable projects. The portfolio includes 600 MW of wind and solar and 600 MW of battery storage. Weasel Solar Farm and Cellars Hill Wind Farm are part of this portfolio. The Downie Family and Alternate Path have led the project development. Gamuda has taken an equity stake and secured EPC rights for the projects. The deal is subject to Foreign Investment Review Board approval. Project planning has involved landowners, communities, and government for local benefits. Gamuda has expanded its energy business over the past 18 months. It is involved in solar, wind, pumped hydro, and transmission projects across Australia. Construction is planned for 2027 and 2028.
