Italy-based UniCredit, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, BPER, Banco di Sardegna, and Banca Ifigest have financed Italy’s first advanced agrivoltaic plant integrated with a battery energy storage system through a €46 million (~$ 53.46 million) green loan. The 45 MW project, owned by Futura Group, includes a 48 MWh storage unit and is under construction in Italy. It is certified under the Green Loan Principles and benefits from the GSE Contract for Difference scheme. The plant is expected to begin operations by mid-2026. Once operational, it will produce about 85 GWh of clean energy annually, by supplying nearly 30,000 households. The system is designed to combine renewable generation with agricultural and grazing activities. The project is estimated to cut over 18,000 tons of CO₂ emissions per year, supporting Italy’s energy transition and grid stability.
