Ameresco, a Massachusetts-based clean-energy solutions provider, has been named to Fortune’s 2025 “Change the World” list for its Oʻahu Kūpono Project in Hawai‘i. The installation features a 42 MW solar array with a 168 MWh BESS, supplying electricity to approximately 10,000 homes and offsetting over 50,000 tons of CO₂ annually. Fortune recognized Ameresco for its measurable social and environmental impact, selecting it from a shortlist of 250 companies. Earlier this year, Ameresco has secured the Reuters Energy Transition Award for the same Kūpono Solar Project in Hawai‘i, further highlighting its consistent performance in renewable project delivery. The facility was developed under the US Department of Defense’s energy-security program aimed at improving grid resilience on the island. The recognition has emphasized Ameresco’s effective execution of large-scale solar-plus-storage projects contributing to reliable and cost-efficient energy supply in islanded regions.
