Serbia-based Fortis Energy, as a subsidiary of UCK Holding, has expanded its renewables portfolio in Southeast Europe with a 110 MW solar power plant and 31.2 MWh BESS in Šid, Serbia. The hybrid facility supported grid reliability, reduced fossil fuel reliance, and aided renewable integration. In January 2025, the grid connection study received approval. In March 2025, Fortis began the grid agreement process with Elektromreže Srbije. The BESS component enhanced grid flexibility and balanced intermittent energy supply. Fortis Energy added the 180 MW solar project to its Balkan portfolio, aligning with Serbia’s decarbonization and energy independence targets.
