First Solar has announced plans for a new 3.7 GW facility in Gaffney, South Carolina, to onshore final production processes for Series 6 Plus modules. The company planned to invest about USD 330 million and expected commercial operations in the second half of 2026. The facility was forecast to create more than 600 jobs with an average salary of USD 74,000. The project was driven by demand linked to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, signed in 2025. The plant was expected to add to First Solar’s anticipated 17.7 GW US capacity in 2027. The investment expanded the company’s South Carolina footprint and supported its broader US manufacturing network across several states. First Solar projected direct US employment of more than 5,500 people by the end of 2026 and estimated wider job impacts of over 30,000 by 2027.
