Exus Renewables, a global independent power producer (IPP), has closed financing for the 130 MW Cibele solar farm in Portugal. The facility spans about 300 hectares in the Alentejo region and is expected to supply electricity for approximately 69,000 households annually. It is part of Portugal’s plan to reach 21 GW of installed solar capacity by 2030. MUFG EMEA acted as Sole Mandated Lead Arranger, Hedge Provider, Facility Agent, and Account Bank.This is Exus Renewables’ first project financing in Portugal, following earlier deals in Spain and Poland. The transaction supports the company’s expansion strategy in Iberia and Europe. MUFG provided an integrated financing package including lending, hedging, and agency services, tailored to the project’s requirements, and reinforced its involvement in the renewable energy sector in the Iberian market.
