UK-headquartered Ethical Power, a global independent renewable company, received planning permission in May 2025 for three new solar farms: Burcot Road, Langer Lane, and Kirkgate. Burcot is a 49.9 MW co-located solar and battery project located in South Oxfordshire. It includes 86.7% biodiversity net gain and maintained sheep grazing. Langer Lane, a 7.5 MW farm in Wingerworth Parish near Chesterfield, was expected to power around 3,990 homes annually. The 6 MW Kirkgate project in West Yorkshire, a former mining area, aimed for a 135% net gain in habitat units. They were developed by Hive Ethical Project Developments, a joint venture between Ethical Power and Hive Energy. All projects underwent environmental assessments and community consultations.
