US-headquartered Enel North America, a clean energy provider in the US and Canada, has started operations at the Estonian solar-plus-storage plant in Delta County, Texas. The project includes a 202 MW solar farm paired with a 104 MW battery storage system. A 21 MW portion is supported by a power purchase agreement with BXP, Inc., and another agreement is with Capri Holdings Limited. The facility is expected to generate about 499 GWh of electricity annually, enough to power over 46,000 US homes. The construction provided around 400 jobs and added permanent roles for operations and maintenance. The project is expected to generate over $23 million in local tax revenue. In addition to that Enel also operates about 5 GW of wind and solar energy and 1.3 GW of battery storage in Texas, supporting the ERCOT grid.
