Spain-based Ekienea, a company led by Iberdrola España, obtained environmental approval for a 125.89 MW solar plant in Armiñón, Álava. The €70 million (~$79.439 million) project planned to install 231,000 modules across 100 hectares, with another 100 hectares for environmental compensation. It aimed to produce 155 GWh annually, supplying 47,500 homes and avoiding 12,400 tons of CO₂ emissions. Up to 300 jobs were expected during peak construction, with additional roles in operations. The facility would connect to the ST Puentelarrá junction via a 17 km 132 kV line. Biodiversity plans included buffer zones, ecological corridors, tree planting, ponds, and herpetofauna shelters. Provisions were also made for organic farming, including sheep grazing, fruit cultivation, horticulture, and fodder crops.
