EDP Renewables North America, a developer, owner and operator of renewable energy projects, has inaugurated the 180 MW Azalea Springs Solar project in Lufkin, Texas. The site supplied power equivalent to over 27,800 Texan homes and supported local employment and revenue generation in Angelina County. Around $ 40 million was spent locally, with up to 250 jobs created during construction. Over its lifetime, the project was expected to provide $ 35 million to local governments for public services and infrastructure. It also helped boost US manufacturing, create local economic activity, and add to Texas’s energy supply.
