DRI, the EU renewables arm of Ukraine-based DTEK that develops and operates clean energy projects, has secured €60 million (~ $70.2 million) syndicated green financing. UniCredit, an Italy-based banking group headquartered in Milan, and Garanti BBVA, a Turkey-based bank majority-owned by Spain’s BBVA, have provided the financing. The loan package has included €56 million (~ $65.5 million) and a RON 22 million (~ $5.1 million) VAT facility, structured across construction, term, reserve, and letter of credit components. The investment is financing the 126 MW Vacaresti solar park in Dambovita County with construction commencing in January 2025. The plant will be completed in the fall of 2025 and will supply energy for approximately 50,000 homes annually. The portfolio is also expected to reduce close to 48,600 tonnes of carbon emissions annually when in operation. Beginning in January 2027, DRI has agreed to sell 50% of generated electricity to OMV Petrom under Romania’s largest physical solar PPA.
