DNV, an independent assurance and risk management provider, has deployed a nationwide network of solar measurement stations across Italy. The stations tracked solar irradiance, albedo, and soiling data for accurate energy yield optimization. Each unit included sensors designed for bifacial solar modules, which accounted for nearly 40% of Italy’s new solar projects. DNV research indicated albedo optimization could raise energy output by up to 15%. The system's soiling data helped reduce cleaning costs by up to 30%. Developed with Cubico Sustainable Investments, the project aligned with Italy’s National Energy and Climate Plan goals and aimed to guide site development, improve bifacial module performance.
