Chempark operator Currenta signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Bremen-based green energy supplier wpd for CO2-free electricity from the Lautlingen Süd photovoltaic project, commissioned end of 2024. The delivery of green electricity was set to begin in spring. Currenta, stated that the agreement brought them closer to fully covering customers’ green electricity needs and that wpd’s tailored solutions aligned with their requirements. Wpd, a leading planner and operator of onshore wind and solar farms in Germany and internationally, had extensive experience with PPAs. Currenta managed three chemical parks in North Rhine-Westphalia—Leverkusen, Dormagen, and Krefeld-Uerdingen. The electricity supplied through this agreement enabled Currenta to provide its customers with high-quality renewable energy.
