Cubico Sustainable Investments, a global renewable energy investor and operator, has proposed Frodsham Solar, a 100 MW solar and battery project in Cheshire. The project application was submitted in May 2025 and has been accepted for examination.The site lies north of Frodsham, near an existing wind farm and Protos hub. It has capacity to power 40,000 homes and enables future supply to local industry. The project includes battery storage, 5.1 km of permissive paths, and outdoor learning spaces. Biodiversity enhancements span 80 hectares with dedicated habitats for skylarks and wetland birds. Design measures address flood risk, glint, and construction traffic.The project is now in pre-examination, with registration open from July 17 to August 28, 2025.
